|||||||
The Andes people thought of "Mother Earth" as alive with supernatural powers and from the beginning of their civilization they sought sacred spots where these energy forces could be felt and honored. Machu Picchu, the place where life began according to the Andes people, is such a sacred spot.The spiritual sanctuary of Machu Picchu is located in a spectacular setting within a 360 degree ring of Andean mountain peaks and subtropical forests. The Lost City, as Machu Picchu is also known, has become an irresistible magnet for spiritual seekers as well as, for those who are attracted by the archeological wonder and the absolute splendor that it encapsules. Join us in this journey of discovery. Experience the awe and magnificence of Machu Picchu. Connect with Spirit in the land of the Jaguar and the Condor! A short train ride from Machu Picchu is Cuzco, the gateway to Machu Picchu, the home of the Inca Empire, and often is referred to as the Archaeological Capital of the Americas. Cuzco is a beautiful city riddled with contrasts between the indigenous styles and the modern western world. It is these contrasts that have given Cuzco its rare beauty. Cuzco is known throughout the Inca Empire as the Navel of the World. Cuzco will be the navel of our journey of discovery in Peru. We will begin our journey with a short plane ride from Lima to Cuzco. We will spend the first three nights of our trip here in order to acclimate ourselves to the 11,000 feet altitude and to get balanced and prepared for our journey to Machu Picchu. This is also an ideal opportunity to explore the many interesting sites Cuzco has to offer, such as a visit to the nearby Inca Ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenko, Pucapucara, and Tambomachay, or a day trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas including possibly a visit to the traditional Indian market at Pisac and the beautiful village of Ollantaytambo. |
